So, I checked the aviaries this morning and had a dead WH Munia and Yellow star, both due to egg binding. I was wondering what everyone else does to help prevent hens getting egg bound? All my birds have access to a crushed cuttlefish/shell grit/charcoal mix at all times, obviously this is not enough.

Hospital cage for any puffed up hen. Or small cage with lamp near it and towel over half of it, should you not have a hospital cage. And maybe up the wind protection of the avairy itself.

These particular birds looked fine yesterday, and this morning they were dead, otherwise they would have been straight in the hospital cages.

I'll have to ask if my chemist will do that.
