said she wouldn't worry about coccidiosis as it's very rarely pathological. She said she's never had a small bird die
Very inexperienced vet who has never worked with Budgies is she? Talk to the vet school at Murdoch uni and they will tell you that it is a regular but controllable problem in budgies located in hot climes when the soil gets wet. More a problem with hookbills, heavily populated avairys or unclean floors.
My mother has had a couple of incidences over the years, in very hot wet years, and the vets at Murdoch have been right onto it, and stopped it in its tracks. Them and our local bird specialist vet who unforturnately is about to retire. Take/send some stool samples to Murdoch if you want to know what is wrong.

Dunno, apparently she was their "bird person". I asked her how much of a problem coccidiosis is in perth's climate and explained my birds symptoms and conditions.
What does murdoch charge for a sample check?
2 places I checked gave me vague pricing. $60- $100. They couldn't even work out what sample check to do from their costings list. If sample checking was cheaper I would do it.

They have been pecking eachother but so have the cocks and they appear fine. The hens look funny around the eye as shown and fluff up and on down days almost look like dieing but so far pick up again. I've treated with ivomec and apple cider vinegar. They have both raised healthy looking chicks. All the other finches look good.

In my opinion they look very old and if not cull them and purchase some young healthy hens and start again. Craig
