It is usually young first year breeding hens that become egg bound or very old hens. Egg binding occurs due to cold weather and/or lack of calcium. Supply as many sources of calcium as you can plus oily seeds and fresh seeding grasses as well as soaked/sprouted seed with a dusting of a good vitamin/mineral and amino acids added to it at least once a week.
If it is an old bird you are talking about, yes it could be an on going problem. Birds over 12 months old and up to 4 years shouldn't have the problem of egg binding if fed a good diet including plenty of calcium and the addition of D3 ( Sunshine or synthetic ) Craig

Sully, there is no definitive answer to your question...... it depends on a few variables, namely: Species, age of hen, breeding experience of hen calcium levels of hen, number of nestings recently attempted, and ambient temperatures.

It most likely will not happen again, but keep the hen well fed with egg food. If the hen is too young or old, do not breed it again.
Have a nice day!
