Or use natural perches that you cut from the trees in the garden that need pruning. And burn them every 6 months/year when you replace them.

If you have an airsac problem you can't hang on for 6 months to change them.
When you dose is when you do something about cleaning perches and other areas
otherwise it will continue being a problem..

All I use are natural perches Finch Breeder, I never have used dowel and I don't think I ever will, and yes I do replace them 2 or 3 times a year and burn them
Thankyou for your responses everyone, very much appreciated, but I think I will give the coopex a go at a latter date, but the Avian Insect Liquidator seems a good product, and I can buy it locally, as the product does have the active constituent of pyrethrim (I think thats how you spell it), that kills mites and lice effectively
And yes E Orix the whole area will be thoroughly cleaned (perches and all)
Thanks again everyone
Thanks

When using chemicals or looking at suggestions from others, take note of the active rather than the brand or name.
Coopex which is popular is Permethrin in powdered form. Permethrin is the active in most retail products marketed for the control of ants, cockroaches, spiders etc. Check the spray cans and similar you have at home.
Avitol Mite and Lice contains Pyrethrins and Piperonyl Butoxide.
Pyrethrin is the plant based version of Permethrin which is man made.
Scatt contains Moxidectin while Avimec contains Ivermectin.
Ivermectin has been approved for use on birds in Australia while Moxidectin has not which is why Scatt is available overseas.

Your avian insect liquidator is the same constituents but bought as an expensive way in a liquid form. Coopex is a powder form of pyrethrum that can be mixed to the strength you want. $12 a sachet makes many litres compared to AIL and can be mixed in and sprayed by a cheap garden pressure sprayer from a supermarket or Bunnings

Ok, thanks Craig, what dilution rate would you personally think is suitable to spray the whole aviary with?
Thanks

Noah the directions and strengths are on the sashe for certain types of insects. Coopex is residual and will last by how much you mix which could be days, weeks or months.

Hi Gary
I do already use Moxidectin Plus, and you certainly can't beat it
I will have a look at Avian Insect Liquidator and check the pricing, is there any withholding periods and anywhere where you can spray it?
Thanks
