G'day everyone
Just wondering what products can be used to clean perches, nest boxes and generally all around the aviary to remove air sac mite.
Does Avitrol mite and lice spray work?, if not, what ones do work?
Thanks

I use the Mite and Lice spray from pet shops. Haven't had any fatalities to air sac mice, but not entirely sure it works. Maybe try AviSafe spray.

As an actual air sac remedy I have used Scatt for many years.
To clean perches and all areas around the aviary I use Coopex.
For nest boxes I wash them lightly let them dry and then I use a common
household spray.
You are correct in asking what to spray the perches with, it is virtually impossible to
restrict air sac mites if you don't spray all perches. Infected birds will constantly wipe the beaks
on the perches and this is where the birds become infected or reinfected.

Coopex is at Bunnings. Comes in a satchet of soluble powder. Lasts well outside of weather & great for repelling ants & other insects. Bird safe.

I do use Moxidectin Plus, and Avimec on the birds, its just the reinfection is the problem from having nothing to sterilize the perches and aviary with.

if you don't have some Coopex etc. Brush them down with a strong bleach mixture or just fly spray especially
the underside as well
