Hi everyone,

I've been trying to worm my birds for some time now using Vetafarm Wormout Gel, but the birds won't drink the stuff. In fact, I observed them drinking from the water in a pot of paddy rice I have in the aviary (the birds eat the seeds). With so many options on the market, what's the most effective solution to worms in birds?

Ivamec is what I use. They don;t love that either, but as it is used over a period of time they give in. Take the pot of Paddy rice out of the avairy while using it if you can. If not just cover the water in the pot so they cant get to it.

I take out all water the day before at around 4pm, and then first up in the morning I put the worming water in and the birds just think it's normal water so they take a big swig before they realise it tastes bad

Just a bit of a question, not related to worms, but does Vetafarm Coccivet work for Coccidosis and how often should I treat the birds if so? Also what do people use for mite and lice?

Coccivet does work and so does Baycox. It should be used if your aviary floors are continually wet at least every six months but if your aviary floors are dry you shouldn't have to use it at all. Moist around water dishes can also be a problem.
Moxidectin plus treats worms and mites/lice,you can also treat coccidia and worm your birds and treat for mites with a mixed dose at one mixed together.
Dosage rate, Baycox 3ml/ltr and moxi plus at 6 ml/ltr fed out mixed together.

I agree with Craig, if your aviaries are dry you should have no problems
Just as precautionary I do the Coccidia rounds after periods of heavy rain, even though my aviaries are always high and dry, you never know what could be brought in somehow..
I have used Coccivet all the time Aidan and works a treat
Moxi-Plus is advertised on the member deals up the top

Ok, thanks Noah and Craig! 1/2 of each aviary is open to the elements so the vegetation gets sunlight and rain, so I'll treat it with coccivet.
