Just a comment . .

In N Qld lots of cane toads :frogg: :boggle: :frogg: wind up as road-kill.

On bitumen roads, their remains dry out quite rapidly, and become a favoured protein source for the Spice Finch population as well as Peewees, and possibly other birds

The poison of the cane toad is confined to sacs on either side of its neck, and crows have worked out that if toads are rolled over onto their backs the edible 'bits' can be safely accessed

Not to suggest that desiccated cane toad be added to your finch menu . .

But it is interesting to see what unlikely food sources wild birds will utilise
