never heard of yeast being fed to birds but it does contain vitamin B. Vegemite is made from yeast, what about trying vegemite on bread or rice crackers and see if the birds take that?

I've used ID yeast (inactive dried) as an excellent protein and vitamin B supplement. I presume brewer's yeast is live yeast.
With the ID yeast I used to add a teaspoon of seed oil to a kilo of seed (I used red pannicum as it was primarily a supplement for african waxbills which love rp) shake in a lidded container to thoroughly mix then add a teaspoon of ID yeast & shake again.
ID yeast is available from Aust. Pigeon Company.

They are quite a small canary I understand? I would like them, as I have always prefered the petite canaries.
