My thoughts are that it depends on species kept but equal parts red panicum, white-French, jap & plain canary is a good base to start from. If mostly African waxbills kept then extra red panicum, if mostly cup-nesters then extra canary plus a dash of oilseeds, if mostly natives then extra white-French.

Once upon a time quality came at a price..........unfortunately now the emphasis is on price alone ........yeah its a bird mix...what more do you want?
I am constantly amazed how many birdseed mix buyers don't know what the basic seeds are.
After all...a glossy bag does not necessarily ensure quality contents........and I continually hear......its ok......I feed the leftovers/wastage to my chooks.
False economy.......or just expensive chook tucker?
