Which brand is better ?

What seed brand is better ?
I have been using Riverina finch mix and have had a lot of waste. I have heard Jenco is better ? Is this correct has anyone used these brands ? The Riverina seed mainly has millet and Camry seed with the occasional canola seed. There is not a lot of variety.

Never used either. But it bugs me that so many (including one of my regulars) put canola into finch seed, which is then wasted. Ditto hulled oats.

Depends on the species, both those brands are for canary / siskin type finches but regular Aussie finches won't eat several of those seeds imo.
Four main seeds should be Canary, red or yellow panican, white french millet and jap/grey millet.

I agree with Finchbreeder. For most of my finches, I use Avigrain Blue.

My canaries eat the canola and my Bengos the rolled oats. But as that covers half my avairies have to keep moving the left overs into those avairies. Still too much for the 4 Canaries and 4 Bengos to eat.

If you want to find out how good the seed is, sow some and see if it grows. You can also soak some and put it in a bag and see how much germinates. A high germination rate means good seed, a low germination rate means find another brand or supplier.

For my Gouldians I use Avigrain Blue, always have sprouted seed with vitamin powder mixed in and Greens n Grains couple times a week.

+1 for Avigrain Blue.
Being a local company, it is the most widely available and popular in my area.
The mix ratio seems to vary a little depending on availability of the components, but overall the quality is fairly consistent.
The entire mix is consumed by my Australian and African finches, so there is no waste.
