Arthur, correct with a colour to a split. The original post was for a mating for a split and a normal bird though.

Still 50% splits + 50% normals :silent:

If the Normal bird supplies only normal genes and the split supplies one normal and one blue gene there is only 1 blue gene amongst the 4 genes = 25%
That is where we are divergent.

Mutation x Normal --> 100% Splits and this is fundamental . . ( but with only 2 Blue Genes out of 4 . . by your reasoning would give 50% Splits)

Half-Mutation (Split) x Normal --> Half of 100% (50%) Splits

Don't worry . . You weren't the only one

I had a mate who was dyslexic who could rattle off genetic expectations for combination parrot mutations from off the top off his head in a split second

I always need 'crutches' like the ones above for combos . . Not too bad with primary mutations

I am Dyslexic (with 2 Dyslexic offspring - makes for fun discussions). When the head is in the right place it is all good, can do stuff that baffles people. But when it is not, I have terrible trouble resetting the perspecive. Sometimes it is only 15 mins sometimes days. Mum uses the squares like you do on her bad days (which are becoming more frequent as she approaches 90) but can rattle off genetics till my head spins on her good days.
