What do you guys think? I have heard it whistle but no trilling yet.

Personal opinion cockbird, not in great feather but as a rule if there are a couple of red feathers
around the vent it generally indicates a cockbird.

looks like a hen with the break in the red on the side ov the eye.

I would say poor quality or young cock bird. ..going by size of bib and red vent feathers. .. :thumbup:

If it is a male it must be young & not fully coloured otherwise so poorly coloured that it shouldn't be bred from (again IMO only).

I go by the amount of red behind the eye and the width of the black band in front of the eye. So i'd be calling that a hen, UNLESS its still colouring up, in which case it could turn out to be a cock. Do you have any other RFPF's? In sunlight the cocks will be a much more luminous red in my (rather limited) experience.
