have only ever used single cages, each holding a pair or trio depending upon species. each cage measured 300mm wide x 200mm high x 200mm deep. had the round door but I used very soft 2mm thick rubber instead of a sock for safety

I find 6mm wire to big for finches in boxes,As their heads got caught or knocked about in that size.I use 4mm wire not as good for veiwing but better for them.
Pictures would be good. Can you get one of the door setup?

the above info is incorrect regards gomer

hey gomer i didnt think you could get 4mm wire. so the finches still got stuck in the 6mm wire i have never seen it that hppen before i have seen them getting stuck in the 25x 12mm wire. i think on my boxes thdoors are set up like yours but with 2 small hinges and then the latch is a small brass hook that slides over a pin and they seem to keep the door pretty good . but im not to sure about the ones at work
ill have a look for u tommorow at work

The smaller finches are worst for getting heads stuck eg DBs.I have even had finches get their heads stuck in the aviary wire,12.5mm x 12.5mm X1.3g.Not very common but does happen. The 4mm wire is also meant to be mouse proof.

You guys are right i measered the wire with a vernier it is 6mm on the cage.I do apoligise.I have heard of 4.5mm wire but not actually seen it i assumed mine was that size.so i stand corected 6mm is fine.I did mean the 12.5 mm is no good for finch heads typo.

you could even use metal fly wire aswell. that was sugested to me with the carry boxes for my softies just in case there legs get through. there just as hyperactive as red face parrot finches and bounce around in the box abit. another thing would be to paint the wire black so you can see the birds in your selling box a bit easier that way prospective buyers dont have to put there nose up tp the cage freeking the birds out...pete
