Would it be worth trying quarter inch wire over the nectar feeder with just a few mm between the mesh and the nectar to see if the birds work it out?

Exactly what we are trying now.
First mistake was to pour the mix through the wire, the Bees just feed on the mix on the mesh.
Cleaned the wire mesh and the Bees are now just hovering over the bowl.
Worrying to the birds but hopefully they will give up.
I have noticed the area where the main feed station was is still visited by them
I guess just randomly checking, if I could catch the remaining 3 birds the problem would be
solved at least short term.

Update on my Bee problem, they have gone, it is now a week since the last invasion.
I am not sure if it was the 5mm mesh over the nectar mix or a reasonably windy two days(blowing towards where
the bees come from) or a combination of both, I am not sure.
Maybe they took so much nectar they got their two month quota, all I know is so far they have gone.

You might want to get a professional pest remover person to remove the bees, look for any nearby hives. Won't do if you get stung in the attempt.
Have a nice day!
