Do you need to have water for finches/canaries to bathe in & separate water bowl for drinking.
Talking finches the other day & was told birds won't drink the water they bathe in ??

As a matter of hygiene, these should be separate water sources. (unless you have an automated watering system that replaces the water quite frequently)

How do you tell the birds which is what? Normally as soon as you put in fresh water they will go and bath in it.

Would be some thirsty birds in most aviaries if that were the case . .

At least, until they worked out the correct order of doing things :silent:

I have only ever had one water source for each aviary. Bath + drink. If it gets dirty, I refresh it.

Same in my aviaries - in the wild they wouldn't have the choice so way would they require it in the aviary.

I also have only one water source per avairy. But it is on auto refresh at this time of year, and I check it also. Hate to have the auto not work on a 40+ day.

Yeah mine are auto fill too, as well as misters during the heat of the day
