Hi, i have been reading a lot that you shouldn't introduce new finches into an already established aviary , and that you must take all the established birds out and then change all the "furniture" and put everyone in back together . I think that's a little difficult to do, but will do if I must.
But wondering if the above is correct and what other finch keepers do ?

For me, I just put them in a quarantine cage for 2-3 weeks just so my birds don't contract any diseases the new ones bring and then I release them into the aviary, not taking anything out. I don't know how others do it though.

Depends on the species
In all aviaries there is a hereichy where there is always a dominant pair
Just keep an eye out
What species are you talking about to add new

As above. The only birds I would definately follow the full removal and refurbish rule with are not finches but Lovebirds. They really can mash strangers.

They should be fine just to plonk them into the aviary, after quarantine of course

I have found that the care taken to prevent new inmates from being bullied is inversely proportional to aviary size, ie. the smaller the enclosure the greater the the chance of territorial dominance being a problem. I have never 'rearranged the furniture' but always observe the situation for a while... if trouble arises I remove the aggressor for a spell (or two), and have never had ongoing sagas.
