Gouldian Finch Strange Color

Gouldian finch is malting from purple chest to black chest.
I have never seen a black chested Gouldian.
Do black chested exist? Only half black at present.

How much exposure to daylight does the finch get? Lack of sunshine is supposed to cause this condition in otherwise healthy birds.

Looks like a very old bird to me when looking at its feet in one of the photos, could be melanistic, a good dose of sun probably wouldn't go astray. You must have some strange things down there Dizzy, in your previous post you have a white breast turning purple. Strange, very strange.

Didn't look at the feet first time round just the colour. Yep that bird is definately mature, and could do with a careful manicure.

I would say melanistic,the one Noah showed turned normal colour the following year after a good diet and sunlight,cheers garyh
