Has anyone encountered Gouldians with feathers which appear coarse and the green feathers on the back which appear to be streaked with grey. I bought this female a month ago, which hatched around April 2019, so should have moulted. It also has trouble flying.

All birds inherit buff or "yellow" feathering. A bit like all people have straight or curly hair. But feathers can be "intermediate because of one of each type of gene. However to my eye it would appear this young lady has inherited two buff genes and therefore has "longer rougher" feathering. "Yellow" feathering carrys colour better and as she did not get that gene she looks less colourfull. Put her with the brightest "yellow" feather type mate you can find.
