If the only place they can access the cage is down a hook, have you thought about smothering the hook with vasaline or something similar?

It seems that they already found there way in and around the nest. I am really worried about the chicks that are soon to be. I do not want them to get attacked along with the parents of course.I have been trying many different things but it just doesn't seem to work. I won't give up! :x

Are ants drawn to chicks?

In regards to your question in the shout box about ants attracted to chicks ...ants are scavengers and if they happen upon a chick they will more than likely attack the eyes first then other soft flesh , the chick probably wont survive .
An adult bird under attack from certain ants will not survive either.

Is it possible to move the cage to another area even a few feet would do, just to stop the ant trail? I would try putting the cage on a block, paver, or bricks inside a bowl of water, that should stop the ants as long as you keep the water moat topped up.

From what I understand from reading previous posts your birds are in a cage that is suspended on a hook.If this is so ant control should be easy. The ants will have a path that they follow, find that path and treat with a residual surface spray, if at all possible trace line of ants back to nest and treat with termite powder or spray and replete until nest is inactive.
