Will same sex finches build a nest?

sorry i cant,i would be very surprised if anyone could just on that photo.The only thing i can say is the one on the right apears to be crowing like a male.
Try a needle.
Or these are some visual diferences.
mandible colour breeding season.male plum colour female vermilion (normal)
lores (eye stripe)m solid black f brownish black
forehead m white f practically no white
head m bullish f rounded
you would need to catch both birds and compare in the hand.

gomer is right there to hard to tell. the differances are so small its way to hard determine sex especially with diamonds, the buggers can be a pair and be incompatible at the same time, well i have found they need to choose there own mate in some cases then placed in a breeding aviary as a single pair.give it time they might prove me wrong. ...pete

Thanks pete. I'll give them till next breeding season to see how they go other wise ill buy another female.

hi will . that nest is a bit better than mine build i will try to get a pic in the next few days of one. because i currently have all girl diamonds and there nest building skills are not that great.but as a pair there there much better because the boys do most the work from what i have been told anyway.i have been looking for these large football size nest for ages now i know why i cant find one..pete
