I sell cheap to move them on. Im a senior nsw public servant so to get hung up on $$$$ would ruin the fun birds bring. As long as im not shelling out thousands to maintain the hobby im happy. That being said the $ 14000 my linnies earnt me in 2015 was more than welcome. I used some of this to get more linnies and the rest on a family trip to peru. If the rear fell out of them tomorrow id still keep em. Money is great but its the fastest way to turn a fun hobby in to a stress.
Breeding Project 2020-2025.
agate mosaic canaries, agate yellow mosaic canaries, red zebs, self bengos and goldfinch mules.

Attempting to manipulate the market is futile.

Like Arthur says, if there are people who feel strongly that birds are underpriced then they should buy all the cheap birds and then sell them for a profit.
Problem solved.

Personally I tend to sell my birds for less than "club" prices because I am interested in quick sales.
Time to me is more important than the few extra dollars.

Cheers

Cathy,i know this is off topic, but why would you only sell single birds to experienced breeders,i have sold lots of single birds to people because they dont have the money to pay for pairs and instead of them losing interest and not continuing with their breeding i help them out,if i end up with an odd bird so be it,now back to topic ,im enjoying the posts ,cheers garyh

garyh if you end up with an odd bird it will most likely be bullied.
Have a nice day!

Don't recall seeing odd birds bullied in my avairys. They just make friends with a couple and hang out with them, usually.
