Can anyone advise on the following I have a full red fronted painted cock and a possible full red fronted hen ( maybe average coloured cock) and a normal red fronted hen as a trio hoping to breed the 2 full reds
Does trio breeding work ?

Australian finches only breed in prs. Trios do not work.
For best results get 8-10 birds (4-5prs) and let the birds choose their own partners. :)

Letting birds select their own partners from a group will not suit selective maximising of the full red front. pair with one then separate to the other after breeding with the 1st.

I know that everyone said the same thing, but it is best to let the birds choose their own mates so they can produce better chicks.
