Mine have been coping fine.
Keeping the water refreshed and giving them mist from the hose.
Mine all tend to drop down onto the cooler floor and camp next to the clay pot of the fern I have in there. Probably the coolest spot.
I have noticed the seed consumption has dropped markedly.
They are certainly appreciative of the Leb Qks I’ve given them in late arvo.
Cool and moist in their parched little beaks.

Sadly lost an orange breasted hen today. Found it quite early in the morning, so I'm not 100% sure it was heat related, but it's the most likely cause.

On recent hot days my birds seem to particularly enjoy sprouted seed straight out of the freezer in the hot early afternoon.

just reading ones of your posts graham very interesting that you feed frozen sprouted seed on a hot day in the afternoon, i must of missed it back then, i will give it a go this coming summer. I'm still waiting for you to put a book out pal which i thing would be great reading for all finch breeders, cheers mick,

If only climate change went away and solved all our problems... seed is so awfully expensive because of the drought and seeds are having to be substituted for other seeds or imported seed.

Well, the politicians could try and do something for once.... is tax cuts in 2024 really that important?

It's about what people do or hope to do when their birds are experiencing above average temperatures as mine did last year
when the temperature went over 45C
It has nothing to do with drought,tax cuts and Global warming, we get enough of that on the NEWS

Well doesn’t hot weather relate to the drought which relates to climate change which relates to how bad seed is lately.
