Sparrows are shot on sight over here in the wild west. 8-) We are also trying to prevent the incursion of Cane toads, with a lot less success. :twisted:

How on earth did cane toads get over to WA? Weren't they introduced to Tropical North QLD?

They move pretty long distances, there were a couple found in Tassie a while back, which more than likely would have hitch hiked from something, there are a fair few being found in the middle of the desert now :wtf: :think: :thumbdown:

Apparently Moreton Island off of brissie is the only cane toad free place in QLD - when you go on the ferry there they check your load for toads.

I really don't know. But... it's very weird how noisy miners are so agressive but are still native.

Yeah I guess, then again the old Blue Faced Honeyeaters are very aggressive as aviary birds, although I have seen people keeping them with King Parrots, Black Cockies, Gang Gangs and Galahs I believe

I do find that although softbill aviculture has become increasingly popular, honeyeaters and wrens are extremely hard to find, and softtbills will likely dwindle more in aviculture in the coming years.

Agreed, I mean, a lot of people will just stick with Pigeons, parrots, doves, finches and quails , no way in the world will there be many people up to the challenge, I will certainly get softbills when I have my owns house and a good paying job, but now at the moment obviously nobody would appreciate it if everything revolved around my birds (regarding the softbills never ending access to their specialised diet) while I'm still at home attending school
