Me too mate, I'm probably gonna get rid of the last of my zebra finches as they breed like flies, and i would like to focus more on the other species. And cutthroats have surprised me, i know that they will take over the live food dish as they please, I guess he would have multiple feeding stations

I like the Zeb mutations - a challenge that you do not get with other varieties that are best kept "pure" But I like Double Bars and Ruddies and Orange breasteds, small quiet finches that are not too easy nor too hard. Then there are canarys with their song. I could go on.

Native: BB crimson finch. When they are in their prime I believe they are the most attractive finch you can get. I also believe far too much emphasis has been put on their aggressive traits when the rest of their personality is curious and very tame at times.

Foreign. Green winged pytilias very closely followed by saints.

I’d have to say the RFPF and their mutations are my number one, I just love their bubbly personality. I also love the Gouldian and believe it to be the most striking bird in the world. We have many overseas visitors visit my aviaries and they are always amazed at how beautiful they are. I think we here in Australia are so spoilt for choice we sometimes lose our appreciation for the wonderful bird life we have around us and are able to have in our collections.

I agree, we are so lucky. If I get another aviary I would like to focus on the Red-Browed Finch - one that I believe is suffering under the brown bird syndrome but is also very common in the wild thus enabling people not to keep them. I don't think any other countries have them in captivity.

The redbrow is available in the UK, Europe and the US as well as Asia but they don't have the lesser subspecies.

Red Brows are lovely birds I have to agree, I would personally love to keep all the subspecies (I think there is 3 or 4 (the nominate, lofti, macgilvrii, lesser i believe)), and the best thing about them is, they love running water as I have been told, so a lovely water feature is a definite
Thanks
