Hope that you are all keeping safe on the hot side of the continent. And the birds are safe too.

I know, so many houses have been lost, Brissie has worse air than Beijing, and I'm a tiny bit worried because we live very close to lots of dry scrubland and an inferno burnt down lots of bush and a house just 2 1/2 kilometres away. Luckily the firies put that out but here are still so many fires still burning and 11 houses have been lost in a large one near the small town of yeppoon, where my mum's friend lives.

My Gramps and Uncle live in Yeppoon, my aunty is guarding the house while my uncle is away at the mines
They managed to get all the birds and reptiles and dogs and cats out safely, and then with the goats and horses they had to cut the fences down and hope they escaped any fire.
The worst part about the fire in Yeppoon is the fire near Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary where I did my work experience, they got all the animals out and nothing has been severely burnt thank god
To all, stay safe!
Thanks

A fire has started now a couple kilometers away at Pechey and Hampton, which is only just over the hill and down the road a bit near my place
I made a fire break around the aviaries this afternoon and removed all the leave from the roofs, just in case the worst happens, at least the aviaries will not burn down once all the birds have been evacuated
All the carry cages are ready to go
Thanks

Clearing roofs and gutters of leaves is essential in areas at risk. And turn off airconditioners so they do not pull in burning embers. Then damp everything down. And be prepared to flee with your birds - point the car away from the fire in preperation. This is the advice that is being given to people in risk areas.
And like Craig said - Keep safe everyone.

Hope some of that rain in Brissie spread out into the country side.
