What is everyone planning to buy at the upcoming bird sales?

I'm after Pytillias, Green cheeked Conures and either some siskins, or Cordons

Cheers

Some of the easier Munias (Tri Coloured, Silver Headed, Black Head) and maybe some Plumheads.

Remember not to mix Munias in the same avairy if you do not want hybrids. Even silly fools like me who should have known better have been caught with that one.

about a week ago I was asked to take an old canary as they were looking to re home it . The bird is 12yrs old, has a club foot and looks like its living on borrowed time. So I place it in the quarantine cage and medicated it , I wasn't sure it knew where the water was so I picked it up and placed it in the bird bath which it straight away started drinking from, it found the seed as I placed it in the seed dish when I introduced it to the quarantine cage,
The bird was lethargic and didnt attempt to escape when you picked it up. So 2 days ago I released it into one of the main aviaries, where it fluttered to the ground, mind this bird has been in a 2ft+2ft cage all of its life, and probably doesnt even know it can fly. So I kept an eye on it, decided after an hr or so to show it the water bowl I keep at ground level, waited another hr picked it up an placed it in the seed dish where it stayed . The following day it had made it back to floor. So I went in and placed it back in the seed bowl , ( it actually tried to get away from me). An hr later I thought time to put it near the water bowl, but as I approached it took off and flew about 10ft. I dont know who was more surprised. So I let it be. later in the day I noticed it trying a few more little flights, so fingers crossed it will survive on it own. Even if it dies tomorrow it was worth the effort to see it take its maiden flight. :)

The little tacker I reckon thought you must of been a godsend mate, did it come with the pension card so you get seed discounts :D

Thought I had a pretty good season with Green Cheeked Conures so far this year from my Yellow sided Pair
Brought out 9 well coloured young onto the perch in 3 months which I am pretty happy with, bloody top breeder that pair I've got

Anyone else here got Conures?

Cheers

Got 11 young from one pair of Scarlets. The poor hen looks a big ragged now and will get a good rest over the winter.

First two Gouldians of the season are out today! I count at least three more nests full of chicks still to come.
