Grapevines in aviaries?

I have a couple of cuttings from my vine that I'm considering putting in my aviary. This particular vine is a seedless that the wild birds seem to love, but was wondering what others thought? I would obviously prune it each year and not allow it to grow through the wire as I belief it would stretch it eventually...

Sounds like a good idea, as it would attract insects for the birds to eat as well. (Would softbills eat the grapes too?)

I have seen an aviary built over a grapevine trellis in the owners paddock. Hail netting was used to cover the plants and to keep out the blackbirds. The redbrows and ruddies loved it and only stopped nesting when the vines needed pruning. The mask finches made their nests hidden away in the denser parts of the vines or below in the grasses.

Why not give it a go.

I don't see a downside, other than possibly losing some of the crop. To answer finchbreeder's question, many softbills would definitely appreciate the fruit, especially Silvereyes.

I have seen farm houses with vines around the verandahs for shade and red brows nesting in the vines.

I don't see any problems.
