Just as a matter of interest, with the limited bloodlines of Pintailed Whydahs available in Australia, has any mutations popped up by any chance? Also, are they bred by lots of Breeders, or only a few who distribute to the rest? Just curious...

No established mutations to my knowledge Sam, but I have been fortunate to stumble across a white one. It appears white but when viewed closely there are odd black feathers so I would call it a very white pied. Will attempt to breed from him this season.

If it is a transferable mutation . . and it probably is, it should be reasonably easy to establish
Given the polygamous nature of Pinnies, you should get a lot more (only partially related) splits in a season than you would get with single pair birds
Best of luck and don't hold back on the pix

That is very heavy on the pied. But I see the couple of black feathers on the breast. Good luck breeding a number of half sibs from him.
