Has anyone bred lutino blue faced parrot finches, and if so are they difficult to breed? There is not much written about them on the internet.

They aren't difficult to breed but need to be housed in aviary that is not too bright due to their poor eye sight. They should always be bred as a colour to a split to keep up the vigour, size and stamina or the birds become poorly coloured and weak. Craig

I would also recommend only using splits bred from a normal parent (regular outcrossing to normals). Using splits bred from mutation & split has little (actually none IMO) strengthening value when breeding a weak recessive mutation.

Check the 'search' function on this very forum . .

There is a lot of useful info' written about them

While not saying that you should avoid these birds, I am saying that you should do a lot of research into their requirements, before attempting them

Obviously if their needs are met, they are no more difficult to breed than normals
