I guess we all expect every egg to result in a healthy fledgling. In my experience this expectation often results in disappointment. A touch of pessimism is a better strategy. Expect zero chicks and be pleasantly surprised if one fledges and ecstatic if you get more than one. Well I finally gritted my teeth and cracked open the eggs this morning... Looked like they'd been fried. Little shriveled (extremely smelly) bits and pieces inside
