Brokenheart Dilemma.......

Had the littles at the vet, for exam, microchipping and vacs., all checked great, except little Raisa, ( Racey ), she has a heart murmur I would never consider selling a pup prior to 12 weeks, only way to be sure to minimizie any unforseen issues. Her issue may improve, to an extent, but will more than not, require medication later in life. So do I keep her, or sale for the cost of vet bills, so there will be some monetary investment, that will help assure a person will do right by her, or euthanize her.

Sis, whom she is named after says, ship her over to her, huuummmmm..... Something to look into. Round trip econo, is up to 1971.00 for person, in short time, wow! Is a thought tho.

With a face like that I would keep her.
There is no knowing how a long distance flight would affect her health not to mention the quarantine I presume she would have to go through once reaching the USA.
Ive had a young dog go through quarantine after arriving from the UK to here and while she was very well looked after in quarantine I dont feel she was as outgoing as she would have been in a home situation.

If keeping her isn't an option, I'm sure there is someone willing to take on a dog with possible health issues (obviously, as long as this is disclosed), particularly if her price reflects this. Maybe have a look into pet insurance, as if they will cover some/most of the costs, then that may sway prospective owners.

We had that dilemma many years ago. Had an old man interested in taking her but the vet finally declared her a lost cause after 3 months of age. My mum had the same dilemma (over a dog we almost took off my sister and then Mum did instead before anyone knew he was sick), it cost many 10s of thousands in the end (something like 12 years) and we wouldn't have managed it so we were always glad we hadn't taken him on. Find someone who will love her, vet may be able to help out that way.

$15 a fortnight I pay for pet insurance on my poochies each .

Certainly would help with any further vet bills if you decide to keep her .

I love poodles!
A girl I work with just returned from the big show in Texas! She has cute toys and standards.

I would be keeping, she's adorable! But I keep everything, which shows... Lol

I'm sure you would find a caring owner willing to take her on.

My friend had a toy who had dodgy patellas (she was meant to be a show dog), but we fo und someone who was willing to take her on with the possibility that she may have knee problems later in life..
I'm sure you would find the right home, but it just may take a bit..

Grew up with poodles and the heart thingy is pretty common in some of the pure breds .

Do you do your own grooming ? Good job on the face clip whoever did it had a grooming business in a past life and loved giving baby poodles their first puppy clip .

Thanks, Niki_K, of course it would be disclosed, couldn't live with the thought of duping somebody, by selling them a heart ache. Why, I wait until 12 weeks, having vet, exam and vaccinate. Good to have health guarentee.

natamambo, you mum, must have really loved that dog. I know how expensive good vet., care can cost, and to what extreme some will take to keep a critter going, I have been guilty of that one, I once kept one of my favoriet yorkies alive with a pcv of 7, which is not compatable with life. Will have to learn what grade of murmur, she has, right now, expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

Venetta, I love them as well, though it did take me some getting used to not seeing them with docked tails. Now that I have, the last 4 litters of toys and tiny toys, whelped on the farm, I stopped them from docking tails. Potential buyers complained to sis, but told to tell them, she not interested in selling them anything. Hope your friend enjoyed the Texas show. One of my good friends a mini poodle breeder, AKC judge, (approved for poms, also) passed away May, 2010. Guess that hurts, being so far away.
Luxating patella, is common in the toy breeds. Depending on the grade the petella, can be stitched into place, if owners can afford to take it that far. Have seen dogs, walk on their front legs, kind of cute.

Thanks, Jusdeb, after reading the care and time you put into your birds, I would have no doubt that your poochies, get any less, than the best. I would have no qualms of giving you having one of my pups. Thanks for the compliment on the clip. I did do it. Used to have 3 three shops, but now I only pretend, I know what I am doing!

Lots to think about, will have to see how next vet check goes, that is a couple of weeks off, for the next vac and check. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Did the vet happen to say what grade murmur?

I know we've had dogs in before and their notes say murmur and the next vet to see them can't hear it! O_o

I have 6 dogs myself, 2 have heart murmurs....one of them is a cocker and 5 years ago was given 3-4 weeks to live with dilated cardiomyopathy-well he is still alive, so you never no-plus my vet always says if she didnt know she was sick she wouldnt hear it. I would either keep her, or sell her and be upfront with her problems-a murmur doesnt necessarily have to be a death sentence.
