Am so impressed with these bengalese finches , and to think I wanted to get rid of them coz all they ever did was sit in an empty nest.
I put the little Longtail in with the B/lese after I found the mate dead this morning and he has been snuggled up between them in between feeds all day.
I really think that all finch owners should have at least a pair of B/lese , they are the sweetest little birds Ive ever seen and they may just help this little one survive ( we think he was too young to be sold )... :D
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

I just love the little sods for their personallity.
Though like you I get frustrated with them just sitting in their nests playing lets see how many Bengos will fit.
Do wish they would lay and produce young before they all die of old age.
Have never used them for fosters/baby warmers, but it's a thought.
Maybe I am just lucky with the nature of my King quail, any feathered but not flying young that hang arround the floor get rounded up by my hen King quail and "quail sat" for the night.
And this happens in 2 of the 3 aviarys/
