Hello, and thank you in advance.

In the 1960's I used to sit in my grandfathers planted aviary and watch the colorful finches flying about.
Now its time to build my own (I don't like to rush things), so I am hoping to get some useful tips and advice so I get it right the first time.

Cheers
Brett

Welcomw...I think that one of the first things you learnt will be build it strong and not near any trees given your weather in the last few days....

Side fence did get blown down in the storm this week, so I was thinking of a bit of concrete in the footings of the aviary.

Welcome to the Forum. Concrete footings to hold the avairy down is definately the go, and if you make them nice and deep helps to rodent proof as well.
