You bought your cage for this one yet Deb?
I love the idea of having a parrot type bird but Im always wary of the beak! I think I must have been bitten when I was very young! A young hand reared Hooded might just fit the bill when I have more time though.

No cage yet BB .
Either an aviary with another Hoodie or sold as a companion bird ( already had offers ).
Depends on how humanized he/she turns out I guess . trying to not let it be a human or a bear (lol Buzz) but its a bit hard when they're so darn adorable .

With a less common bird like this I sincerely hope it can be encouraged to take a mate. By putting it into an avairy with it's own kind as soon as it is weaned this is more likely. So good luck with that Deb.

I have no desire to keep it as a companion bird , once warmer weather gets here a DNA test and a mate will be found . The urge to breed should outweigh the want to hang of a human , least that's how its been with my other hand reared s...

Still nice when they fly to me in the aviary for a smooch though .

I know what you mean Deb. Mum always has a few of her budgies who just want to hang out with her, and they are parent raised, but being potential show stock are handled regularly from hatching, so pretty quiet overall.
