So just keep providing them with 1/4 a pumpkin when they run out?
Also, since I've never looked, where can one buy a kilo of cockroaches? Not your everyday woollies request Im assuming....
Perhaps I could use ice cream tubs to make a smaller sieve system

Do they need warmth to breed?

Breeding Woodies is so simple BUT< BUT < BUT DON"T let them escape. I have seen them literally take over an aviary.
They are a native, plant eating Cockroach.Jay your mother will kill you for sure if they escape.
I never had a problem because I would carefully harvest a heap and promptly freeze them.Once in that condition they dont run very fast or far.
They were most likely the main reason I bred so many Magpie Robins over the years.I think it would be over kill to breed them for Turnix Quail.

They prefer warmth to do well and breed fast, mine have slowed down a lot in this cool weather.

Don't go there. The quail will miss a couple and before you know it the woodies will have colonised every nest box etc.
Stick to mealworms and frozen whiteants. Good luck with the quail.

How many hundred would you like? They breed everywhere here. Garden, potplants, patio, I could go on and on. Invade everywhere in plague proportions. Never imported any, they just showed up and took over. My quail get sick of the sight of them when I do nest cleanouts. We spray the sods to death by the dozens.
