Matt Bryant (Pro fowl grains) is from the Gunnedah area & does a coastal delivery run in his truck every couple of months. I buy most of my seed from Matt. He's a very nice bloke & sells good quality clean seed at a very reasonable price. He sells his seed in 20kg bags either as separate seeds or mixes (Finch, budgie, parrot, & pigeon mixes). I buy the separate seeds from Matt & mix my own.
Peter Slade from Quirindi (near Gunnedah) also grows & sells birdseed. He grows & sells an excellent quality finch mix, a brilliant barnyard grass based greens & grains type grass seed mix, a white clover based grass seed mix & recently his own-grown niger seed. I buy Peter's Barnyard grass mix regularly & the clover one once (a little bit goes a long way when I only use it for sprouting). I plan to get some his niger in the near future also and can strongly vouch for the quality of his finch mix - its as good as any finch mix I've ever seen but I don't regularly buy it due to transport issues (rely on my sister-in-law to bring over a bag or 2 when she visits or grab some from him myself at the Gunnedah bird sale).
I'll PM you their phone numbers.

Thanks heaps for the info Tiaris. Iam looking at putting a good finch mix in as well as about 5 different seeds in. Different containers. Could you suggest some good seeds and how much are they roughly per 20 kg bag. Thanks heaps

Matt's basic seeds, Red Pannicum, White Millet, Jap Millet, etc. are $20 per bag. Canary seed is dearer ($32 I think) & Finch mix is either $25 or $26 per bag.
Peter's Barnyard grass mix is $36 (I think) per bag. This weighs only about 13kg but is full bag size/volume - light seed.
Which seeds you offer separately depends largely on which species you mainly keep/breed. If mostly small African Waxbills I'd recommend extra Red Pannicum. If Gouldians/Parrotfinches I'd recommend extra Canary seed during breeding season. Most species would love and benefit from an extra offering of the grass seed mix.

I can attest to Peter Slades Niger very clean and far superior quality to anything available in Australia at present.Tiaris wrote:Matt Bryant (Pro fowl grains) is from the Gunnedah area & does a coastal delivery run in his truck every couple of months.
