Thanks heaps, everyone. I will be careful about insurance etc.
Tino, I would be very grateful for your information.
I was thinking of a list (=" register") of aviary builders just like we see lists of bird vets :)
I'd like to get at least 2 quotes if I could.
I have written an email to one mob in ABK who say they freight but I haven't heard back yet.
I hate the phone but I might have to actually talk to someone !!!!! :)

I spoke to Dave Hackney from D & S Aviary Sevices on Sunday and he was saying he is so busy building aviaries that he is having to knock back jobs because he can't keep up with the demand.

If he's the guy you e-mailed you might be better off phoning him so he knows your enquiry is serious.

Good luck with your search.

Hello All,

I too am looking to bi=uild new aviaries for my gouldians & hopefully Scarlet Honeyeaters...

I was quoted the following, just for the housing of four pairs of Scarlet's... It unfortunately does not make economic sense, to build this complex...

Please find following quotation for the manufacture with the option of installation
1 x Colour aviary 5335W x 3070D x 3000H with black wire
4 x Suspended floor with H/Duty mesh
4 x Access doors to enclosures
1 x Security section with door

Aviary & Delivery $6000.00
Installation $2200.00

Please not prices do not include GST

I wouldn't get much chnage out of $10k...

I too am now looking for a builder you can assist me!!

Regards
Ripley

Hi Ripley.
No chance of installing the aviary yourself? I assume they will be delivered in panels with pre-drilled holes.
PM me if you like with more details about your quote. There may be alternatives.

Ripley, aviary that size you should be able to build yourself, either with a little bit welding or no welding, all you got to do is get someone to cut the 2" square tubing to the size of the aviary keeping in mind the wire size is 1250 and 1800 mm in width (for the front of the aviary). The other three sides you can use Colourbond Sheets which are already cut to size or you can get people to supply you sizes to your specs. All that for less than half of what you have been quoted including the footing.

The height of your aviary in my opinion is a little bit to high, the finch aviary should not be any bigger than 2.2 to 2.5 meters in height. You will appreciate this when you have to catch the birds. That's only my opinion but yes you can make it 3m high if you want to.
Just an alternative and something to think about.
