1. Sinker= Dud, Never Developed

2. High Floater (like A Fishing Bobber Without Weights) Say 45% Or More Of The Egg Above The Water Line= Dud, No Development Or Fetal Demise, Likely Rupture Of Internal Membranes Causing The Egg To Dehydrate.

3. Low Floater= Viable Egg, Development Full Term

4. Low Floater Rockin And Rollin! This Is The Live Embryo Moving Inside The Egg= Definate Viable Egg!

I could be wrong but this is what Ive observed from mine .

I recently threw out the eggs that didnt hatch from my recent clutch (5 hatchlings of which 2 died). All of the remaining eggs had dead young in them some more than likely only needing a little more time such as a day but the hen seems to leave after the first 5-6 eggs hatch.

Good luck

You could put him and one of the hens in a smaller cage for a week or two. Less to distract him in a small cage. So more likely to do his job.
