We has a doozy of a hail-storm on Sunday afternoon (more at the ABC News site). As excited as my kids were having never seen hail I was counting my blessings having not a single aviary to protect and having put the car in the garage after 10 weeks on the street. Lots of storm damage reported on the news from this region but I've not heard anyone on the forum mention damage. Is that serendipity or are those affected still in shock?

The hail just hit us, 5 minutes of pebble sized hail and the moon came out in a clear sky.

I had golf ball sized hail which cooled better than air con and was great for mixing drinks but suffered no car, property or bird damage. Some of the birds calmly sat in the rain despite having dry sections to move into. Weird behaviour or common?

I have heard from someone in Brisbane who said they heard a massive thunderclap then no internet or Foxtel since Saturday 11am. Backyard pool overflowed twice. Birds unconcerned, sitting and taking baths out in the rain. Reckons his back lawn has grown inches overnight!
