I'm not surprised Brett.

High doses of garlic have been associated with clotting disorders in humans.

Everything in moderation!

How often do you give , like do you give as a preventative or only in Winter ect ? I do grow garlic and wondered if I plant a few bulbs of it in aviary could the birds nibble at the green shoots ?

If its antibacterial & antifungal qualities are as previously stated, my suggestion is that a good time to give it your birds would be immediately following wet weather. I only give it to my birds 2 or 3 times per year after wet weather. Around the same time I also use more Apple Cider Vinegar in their water. Our local produce store sells ACV with garlic extract which I've previously used too.
