I found I could move Cocks around, especially when you have an outstanding cock & you would like more than 1 mating with him, I found once his hen is sitting I had no problems moving him, some of the older Canary guys at my old bird club in Sydney use to move them around, lol Im talking about 35 years ago.

The older guys would certainly have had more experience than I'll ever have as I've only got the 2 pairs.
My male obviously has no idea they're not his chicks....feding the hen and the chicks, but also still spending lots of time in the nest with her and sometimes even sleeping there. Guess as long as she doesn't mind it's OK.

Once the male is put back with his original hen he was back on duty, as if he didn't go anywhere, then the cock that was replaced, once hes put back hes the same.
I have only done this with canaries, I think it would be possible with Budgies & bengalese & Zebs.
