The vets/RSPCA wont take them .I tried just popping them in the tanks with all my mice but they panic and I worry they will end up dead from the stress. They are just the little field mice and I put them over where there are all seeding grasses and km from any houses .I just cannot kill them .
Iv only had about 7 iv had to rehome.

Are field mice different to the common house mouse?

I don't think so Tom,when so called field mice are in plague proportion, they invade aviaries, houses and farm buildings. In cold weather they move from the fields when food becomes scarce and back into the cover of the said buildings.Imo,they are the same bloody things.

Yes I thought so.
You see, amalan11, these little fellas are a blight. When you release them into the field, they compete with our native animals and birds, breed up, extend their range back to where they came from - you.
You seem to be a gentle soul but some creatures do not belong here. Mice are one. It is useless relocating them. They need to be dealt with. Find someone nearby who can help you.
I am not great at killing anything, myself, but I do have this obsession with native wildlife and my birds. These critters are a major major problem. Do your best

Yes it's that time of year again when the numbers are back up, I've had the little bastards in the aviary again, so the bait is back out and the cat has decided the backyard and aviary are the place to hang out at the moment, hopefully a couple of rounds of baiting and I'll beat the little bastards again, but I'm sure they will be back. The ones in my aviary are getting really game and I see them sunning themselves first thing in the morning out the kitchen window just before I go in to do the morning feed, of course they all scatter by the time I get out there but I have managed to catch a couple that were obviously bait effected and dispatched them a bit earlier than the bait does.
im sure ive gotmice that can climb straight up corrigated iron, to get at the seed but dont know how they do it..
They have been bad in WA last year and this year!!
