I know this was a while ago but I'm very interested to know the outcome, as I am about to purchase some of this! What was the conclusion?

The ingredients panels on the old and new packaging could also clear up the question, if anyone has the boxes.

soft food on the left, is the recently purchesed, and the one on the right is what iv had since last yr.
They look like totally different products, the composition seems to have changed dramatically, can anyone provide a list of the contents of the original so i can compare it to one of our leading brands.

As of January 2013 Birds R Us say of their Australian Complete Soft Food that the "ingredients have not changed" - they are the same as the Mike Fidler version. They claim that the methods have changed, resulting in a more uniform product. So it should smell and taste identical.

I wish I had kept an old Mike Fidler box, but I did not. The ingredients of the Mike Fidler version currently available(?) in the US are apparently:
Pea Meal, Whole Egg, Wheat Germ, Coconut, Sunflower Oil, Dried Molasses, Brewer's Yeast, Mixed Herbs, Fish Meal, Linseed Meal, Kelp, Garlic, Spirulina, all Essential Vitamins, Minerals & Trace Elements, Potassium Sorbate and Mixed Tocopherols.

Breakdown:
Minimum Protein 21%
Minimum Crude Fat 7%
Maximum Crude Fibre 6.5%
Maximum Moisture 13.5%

Birds R Us did not provide the ingredients list for their current Australian Complete Soft Food, despite being asked for this. They just said "have not changed".

The crude protein content of minimum 21% is higher than our leading commercial brands, protein content is usually 15% but you can get one for native birds that as a protein content of 22%. Will get one of my boxes out later and post breakdown of composition. Incidentally i use CEDE Tropical eggfood which i add my own bits and bats too, which i reckon many of us do  CEDE , ORLUX, and WITTE MOLLEN are by far the best commercial eggfoods available over here.

I think it's all moot now anyway. Birds R Us have been out of stock of Soft Food for a very long time and things are not looking good. They still had the product listed recently and were still taking people's money for it, but have been failing to deliver and failing to even respond to enquiries about missing orders. Keep on like that and I think they won't have much of a business left! I think we can all forget about that particular brand of Soft Food, unfortunately.
