Hi All,
New members from Kempsey, NSW here. We used to breed budgies but have now been bitten by the finch bug after a pair of Gouldians we were given last year had lots of babies! We now have 20 Gouldians (not all our babies), 4 Star Finches and 2 Orange-breasted waxbills. We are now waiting with bated breath as some of the Gouldians are laying.
Thanks for all the great info on here.
Adam.

Welcome to the forum. Bit of a differance in the way finches and budgies tend to be bred, and the type of care that works best.

Thanks all for the welcome!
Yes, they are really different. The Gouldians seem a lot more delicate but I'm amazed at how much personality they have and how differently each bird behaves. Some are really tame and inquisitive - I'm sure they know me and can tell different people apart. I've been spending a lot of time just sitting and watching and talking to them. It's better than TV!
I'm now planning a new aviary and birdroom for them in the back yard.
Thanks again all.
Adam.
