Beak Colours?

While we are on the topic of colours thought i would put out and ask not just for me but new people to Gouldians, what beak colour are you to look for when they are ready for breeding. Maybe some photos can be posted? Maybe some short answers for this but will help newcomers.

Greens, Yellows, Blues, Silvers, Pastels, Australian Yellow etc.

I was wondering this too. On an AY hen with a light coloured beak, how can you tell when she is in breeding condition? Does it go pink or red like the boys do?

The normals I have the hens beak goes black, in the RH YB the normal beak colour is more intense, brighter. Dont have a blue hen to say anything about the change of colour there but the blue cockbird his beak just seems to get more pearlised, deeper shine.

The beak tips get more colourful, black, red, yellow depending. But I've only been breeding normals.

Hi Diane,
The blue hens beak goes dark similar to that of a normal hen.

As a general rule of thumb cocks become a more pearl white color and hens darken with the following exceptions:
- European Yellow Hen - not dark
- Dilute Hen - not dark
- Silver Hen (European Yellow x Blue) - not dark

Those are the ones i can recall from my existing stock.
