Well it had a long gestation but my Java story did come out in Rice Today magazine. I'm in the issue twice if you investigate.

Over the years I have spent many many weeks in Bali and Java and seeing Java Sparrows in the wild was a rarity indeed.

Great article! Although I'm sympathetic to the plight of the Java sparrow, I'd very much like some of your chocolate pudding (video at bottom of page).

Well it seems that now that I've left IRRI they decided to get interested in birds. The latest Rice Today magazine devotes itself to the birds at IRRI. Strangely it doesn't even mention Java sparrows!
