Bought the seed today from Andrew's Stockfeed in Coburg, they were great and very helpful. It is good to see an old fashioned business with old fashioned service.

Now to get the feeders and waterers sorted.

Andrews stockfeed was wear i was getting my seed to for the last few yrs ( nice guy ) then a supplier 2 mins from home started stocking it so i now shop their.

Hi Di, do you have much waste seed left over,re shirohie and panorama. I have tried both those seeds and my birds hardly touched them,even when i used to winnow my seed 90% was untouched shirohie and panorama. Both these seeds are used as fillers and take the place of yellow/red pannican and jap millet as the latter are a little bit more exspensive.
Ten or so years ago our local seed merchant had so many complaints with those two seeds that he could not sell it,every one reverted to red pannican in particular as we knew what we were getting by its colour.
Shirohie and in particular panorama are very bitter in taste and they are mostly used in the human food industry. Craig

Not that Ive noticed, the waste container always seems very light weight and it appears to be husks mainly. I will take a closer look next time though. If those seeds are bitter I may be better off going back to make my own mix up as they do make quite a percentage of the seed.

I had a bit of a giggle the other day, couldn't make it out to my normal stockfeed place so thought I'd drop into the local large pet supplier (one of the warehouse style places), they had a 20kg bag of avigrain there so thought I'd pay a premium but shouldn't be too much different maybe $10, well the price was $51 for 20kg (which as you can imagine I told them to go shove it lol) there is mark up and then there is that lol. I ended up buying 5kg to get me through until I can make it out to my normal supplier that charges $25

I bought 2 bags of the avigrain small parrot recently and was very dissapointed to see cracked corn and wheat .....

Small Parrot is aimed at neophemas, you might be better off with Peachface or Cockatiel Blue which have no coarse grains.

We have six parrot mixes out there so people do get confused.

The bag is labeled with the ingredients you mention but I dare say you weren;t expecting what was in there.
