Hi all, 3 weeks ago I bought a few pairs of birds from a local aviary all were enclosed together and seemed in good health on inspection , amoungst the birds bought on this day I chose a pair of red faced parrots that we hoped were a pair, now I have been feeding them all a mixed finch seed, a fich tonic, a fine grit mix consisting of baked egg shell, charcoal, conunra shell, limestone grit and crushed oyster shell and cuttlebone, I also offer fresh cucumber daily along with egg biscut mix, fresh water daily, and a few times a week I feed chopped greens such as corn, boc choy and lettuce. 4 days ago I decided to buy a nest and immediately the red faced parrots started to build this !! Now this was not actually my intention and was wondering if I should take it out !! They seem in great spirit as do all my birds,I keep them in a large patio aviary that on nice days I keep outside...in a shaded area, they get supplements in there water such as moulting aid and I treated them for worms when I first got them...today I noticed one of the red faced parrots has feathers thinning on the back of her neck !! I haven't noticed and picking or anyone biting her...I only have 9 birds in total and we live in a peaceful location rarely effected by noise or anything.
Why are her feathers going ?? She has no babies yet , should I take the nest out they are building ???
I am seeing Dr Marshal today and avian vet rebound for his work with Gouldians...and will get some S76 to treat for airspace mites as well. Please can anyone help with feather loss ??
