Fruit and vegetables

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can fill me in on what fruit and vegetables I can feed my finches..
I don't want to feed them something that will kill them

Not so sure about "fruits and vegetables." for finches. I feed mine greens only, that is dandelion, milk thistle and any green seed I can find but leave out paspalum. A lot of other members feed leb cucumber and apple as part of their feeding but I have had no success with this. When I cant find my normal greens watercress and a little kale gets them through. No doubt other members will weigh in about what works best for them but this is what works for me.

The best by far in my experience is your woolies brand Chikory

It will last in the vegetable crisper for up to 14 days and I feed it to mine daily.

It does not last more than 30 mins...they smash it all.

Its cheap, they will be nail it and it lasts...the best Vegie by far imo

Johnny,i agree with matcho but the only fruit i have ever fed was half an orange on a spike,they all have a go at it especially parrot finches. Craig

lebanese cucumber, red apple (not green), peas, chickory, cos lettuce, boiled carrot (soft), chickweed, corn on cob, spinach, buck choy. do not feed avocado or plain lettuce. not too much orange due too acidity. it is important too give variety as too much of only one, for goes nutrients from other veges or fruits.

introduce a little bit of different vegies, you will quickly find out there favourites

I give mine endive, chickweed, guinea grass, green seed, spinach and pak choy (or bok choy depending on what's in the frige). I'll have to try chicory, and some of the other suggestions! Have tried zucchini, asparagus and leb cucumber, but little interest.

Everyday I feed with my soaked seed endive, silverbeet, cucumber, peas and corn kernels.

The corn kernels are easily the first to disappear.

Iceburg Lettuce must be careful with this as any slime at all can make them sick.
